About the Studio

Terranita Ceramics is a space dedicated to exploration, connection, and discovery through clay. Our studio embraces the spirit of the unknown—the joy of shaping clay into something new, the quiet dialogue between hands and material, and the deep connection between place and process.

My hope for this space is to create a community that brings people from all walks of life together where we can share stories and laughter, learn new skills and create new memories. I have always found working with clay to be an extremely therapeutic process, it responds instantly to our touch, can be transformed with our hands, and is a material that has withstood time for thousands of years. I hope you leave our classes feeling enriched and inspired in some way, whether it’s through learning a new skill, meeting new people or simply stepping out of your comfort zone to try something different.

I grew up an army brat, and can relate deeply to other military families who may feel isolated and a bit introverted due to constant moving and re-establishment of ones self. Throughout my childhood we lived in various places – adapting to new surroundings, changing schools, meeting new people all while knowing this was yet another temporary place we’d live until packing up and moving to the next place. It was never the moving that bothered me, for me, the hardest part was always leaving the people who became your chosen family, replacing walks or short bike rides to each other's house for face time and phone calls. Exchanging time for distance.

My dream has always been to be an educator, especially for those interested in pursuing art. Since 2011 I have been involved in the academia side of education and fine arts – both as a student and instructor. I received my BFA in photography at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville and my MFA in Studio Art with a focus in ceramics at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.
